We have a slider set up, added MetaSlider Lightbox and Easy FancyBox installed, followed instructions to enable everything, but when we click the slider image, it doesn’t open in a lightbox overlay, it simply loads the image within the same tab.

Any ideas what the issue might be?

Don’t want to put development links in public, so can send login details etc privately.

  • Hi,

Do you happen to see any errors in the browser console? You can find some instructions on checking those errors here:

    https://support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/232313848-How-to-open-the-developer-console

Can you also confirm whether you have checked the “Open in lightbox” option under Advanced Settings”?

Looks like replying to the email isn’t working so my response didn’t appear here.

There are no errors, and yes it’s checked to open in lightbox.

    Can you share the URL?

How do I share the link privately?

Send it to our support here: https://www.metaslider.com/support/

Disclaimer: Don’t send any credentials. It’s against WP policy for us to accept them, and I will just ignore them if you do.

Mention my name so the message goes to me. I’ll reply here on the forum though so future users with this issue can follow along.

Are you in BKK (judging by your username + logo)? I’m flying there this Saturday actually.

Thank you, have emailed you the URL thru support form.

And yes, we are based in Bangkok … if you’re coming over here you’ll be stuck in quarantine for 14 days.

I actually do see an error in the console. It may or may not be the only issue though.

Any idea what is causing that error?

I also see another script injecting code into MetaSlider, which aslo may or may not be causing the issue. The class name is “ss-on-media-container”. Can you disable that and see if there is any change?

Actually, I’m flying from Chiang Mai. Have been here the past 4 years. Going to bkk for a week then off to USA to visit some family. Not sure when I’ll be able to come back, unfortunately!

We aren’t seeing that error when we load the page.

Have disabled Social Snap entirely anyway (this is the social sharing thing on the right side of the site – ss-on-media-container), cleared caches etc and reloaded page but that didn’t make any difference.

I personally have been in Thailand for 15 years, mostly around Bangkok. Be safe when you travel.

With default settings it seems to work, so there’s something conflicting.

I see there’s a lazy loading plugin also being run, possibly WP Rocket. It could be that Easy FancyBox doesn’t have support for images loaded like that (as in, it indexes the loader image before the lazy load script swaps it out). Can you try disabling that?

    Thread Starter cmykbkk

    (@cmykbkk)

Disabled the lazy loading and that didn’t do anything.
Also just now disabled ALL plugins and that didn’t do anything either.
Dropped in a 2nd default slider and that also doesn’t work.
Looked in theme settings but can’t see anything that might affect this.
    Grrrrrrr lol

Just now swapped the theme out and used 2020 and lightbox works, so there’s something in the theme that’s causing the problems.
I’ll get in touch with the developers and see what they say.

Okay, it could be a script they are running. Hopefully an easy fix. If you find anything out and need some assistance let me know.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated, hopefully it’ll be an easy fix.

It WAS an easy fix, it was the theme preloader causing the problems, disabled now and it all works as it should.

Thank you very much for your help looking into this, much appreciated.

Great to hear! Let me know if there’s anything else. Take care.
