The text link counter in my post overview is displaying the incorrect value- for some of the posts it says that there are no internal links pointing to them, when I know for a fact that there are, and they are set to do-follow. This is making it hard to track incoming and outgoing internal links. Can anybody help me with this?

    Thank you!

@chloew24 The Yoast SEO plugin will only recognize links contained in the standard editor area. If you placed the links in your menubar, sidebar or footer, the plugin may not be able to recognize them. By default, the Yoast plugin only analyses the default WordPress content areas. It does not recognize content that is outside of the main content box of a page or post. If you’re using custom fields or other plugin/theme content boxes, widgets, including page builders and visual composers, Yoast may not be able to recognize that.

There are a few cases where a link might not be recognized:

? Only links from inside the WordPress post editor are recognized. This means that links from navigational bars, menus, sidebars or footers are not recognized. If you’re using custom fields or other plugin/theme content boxes, widgets, including page builders and visual composers, Yoast may not be able to recognize that.
? Links need to be in absolute form. This means that links need to include the full domain. For example, https://www.example.com/page-a is an absolute link, while /page-a/ is a relative link.

However, this doesn’t mean though that Google won’t be able to crawl them. Google will still crawl them it’s just that our plugin isn’t capable of analyzing them.

Hmm, the same seems to be true for me.

After the most recent WordPress update, the Yoast plugin isn’t properly counting incoming internal links to my article. Outgoing internal links are counted properly.

    Hello @krama757!

Can you please make sure as well that your Yoast SEO (15.5), theme, and ALL other plugins are updated?

If everything’s updated on your end, can you please deactivate the text link counter feature, clear your cache (server, plugin, etc), and reactivate the text link counter again? You can deactivate/reactivate the text link counter functionality under SEO > General > Features tab.

Done. All plugins updated along with theme. Cleared all caches. Deactivated and reactivated text counter feature.

Didn’t work ?? Weirdly only the post I made after I updated WordPress and all plugins is missing the incoming text links. All the old articles are still fine. Also # of outgoing links from latest article is still fine.

    @krama757

Can you please try resetting our indexables in the database tables by following the steps below?
    1. Install & activate the?Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Hit the “Reset indexables & migrations” button.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “SEO Data Optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your pages.

    Does this resolve the issue?
