    A question from a learner.

I’ve been administering our church’s WP presence in a part time capacity.

The site is on WP 5.6 upgraded it seems on or around Dec 8. I realise that this isn’t supported on SM version 2.16.3.

We’re also running Really Simple SSL.

Sermons had been displaying as expected in all common browsers but recently (since Dec 8?) the Main (bible) Passage links/URLs are no longer displayed as URL links on the Sermon display page. I’ve checked many different browsers on many platforms.

Just looking for clues from more experienced users in order to troubleshoot.

    Thanks in anticipation

  • Unfortunately the developer(s) haven’t visited here in several weeks.

I took a look and copied you latest Bible Passages (1 John 5:13-21, Psalm 23) and added it to our testing site. They display correctly, although Psalm 23 won’t “link” because it’s a chapter.

I’m running WP 5.6 and SM 2.16.3 as well. I would disable your plugins and see if that fixes it.

I assume you haven’t turned OFF the ‘Verse Pop-ups’ in the SM Settings by chance?

    Thanks Mike,

    1) Yes Psalm 23 => Psalm 23:1-6 and that’s a “d’oh” on my part
    2) Haven’t disabled verse pop-ups

About 2 months ago I recall having a situation where the new Draft would not render the Passage(s) as a URL but the Published page would render OK. Subsequently I noticed that the first render didn’t display URLs but the refresh of the page did render as expected.

This rendering problem that I have now applies to all sermons, new and old (even those that previously worked fine, including those imported from SB).

Does this perhaps indicate something lurking in a CSS somewhere?

Anyway I’ll check out the upgrade dates on the Plugins and try the elimination process

    Thanks!

Didn’t think you did, but I got to thinking after I responded the first time. Sounds like you have an issue with another plugin then.

Unlikely, unless you added some custom CSS.

If the plugins check out, I would switch to one of the WP default themes. If that isn’t it, I don’t know what to tell you.

    Thanks Mike, appreciate your help.

    I will reply when/if I find something.

    Fingers crossed…

Ok I’ve been off line for a few weeks.

By a process of elimination I believe the culprit is “Smush”.

    All appears well now.

    Thanks
