I just installed the plugin and connected it to my Google mybussines.
I’m trying to post an existing message to Google, but I can’t get it to work.

I get the error message: Error aanmaken post: Could not detect post image size. Make sure the image file/url is accessible.

It doesn’t matter if I choose an image from the media library or if I let the plugin get the image from the post itself.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @jacot,

Thanks for reporting, I’ve made some changes on the image size detection in the latest update, but apparently it is still not working as it should…

I’ve tried with one of the images on your website and I’m getting the same error.

    I’ll investigate!

    Hi @jacot,

I did some investigating, I think it might be happening because of a configuration error on your domains’ DNS.

There’s 2 AAAA-records, both with different IP addresses, only one of which actually works.

    Hello Koen,

I found the double AAAA records with IPv6 addresses.
Not knowing which was the right one I first removed one and then the other.
In the end I removed them both.

None of that helped, I still got the same error message.

    Hi @jacot,

It could take a while before changes to the DNS are effective. I’ve also made some further improvements to the image size detection logic, i’ll release a minor update ASAP.

    Hi @jacot,

Can you try the latest update and see if that fixes it?

Still the same error message Koen.
Maybe there is something wrong with the configuration of my website, but I have no idea where to start looking.

    Hi Jacob,

Very strange. The plugin now first checks with WordPress to determine the file size, if that fails it tries to get the HTTP headers, and if even that fails it will try to download the image to determine the file size. You’d think it would go through now…

Maybe check with your hosting provider? If I take this image from your website for example, and run it through a HTTP header check, it doesn’t return anything. If I try http instead of https it seems to work fine

I have contacted my hosting provider and they suggested that something went wrong when I installed the ssl certificates a few years back altough the website seemed to work ok all this time.
About a year ago my hosting provider was taken over by another company and the website was migrated by them, maybe that had also caused some problems.

Anyway, they advised me to run the plugin really-simple-ssl to correct any existing problems, and that worked.

All seems to be working as it should.

    Hi Jacob,

Thanks for following up, happy to hear the issue is fixed now!

    Hello!

Since last plugin update I get the same problem – “Failed to create/update post: Could not detect post image file size. Make sure the image file/url is accessible remotely.”

My last post from 31/12/2020 was published on GMB perfectly. Now, every time I try to publish new post to GMB the error occures.

I installed Really Simple SSL as mentioned above but it did not help.

My site (leasing.sos.pl) is installed on https from the beginning.

Can you please help with this problem?

    Best regards,

    Greg

Hi @gregywordpress, strange, I’ll investigate it. Maybe I will just add a way to disable the image size checking if it is giving problems.

    Hi!

    Thank you!

I think such option would be great, especially that my WP installation uses featured images in 1024×356 px size. So it will solve the problem with the image size.

Don’t know if it will solve the problem described above but I will test it and let you know as soon as you release plugin update.

    Greg

    Hello!

I just would like to ask if you plan to release update considering the problem above.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @gregywordpress! I’m working on it! ??

    Hello!

Is it possible to provide me with the previous version of your plugin?

I think it would solve my problem as previous version did not have this inconvenience described above.

My e-mail is [email protected] if it helps.

    Best regards,

    Greg
