• Trying to setup and test Contact Form 7 and receiving the orange error code:

    “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.”

    Admin email being used is [email protected]

    I’m using WP Mail SMTP plugin.

    I’m fairly new building websites. Anyone know what this could be? I’ve trawled YouTube for videos and followed every step and i still get there error.

    Thanks,
    Nick

  • Hello @horsleyboy,

    I see the “I’m not a robot” captcha box, so I guess you are using a plugin extension to use reCAPTCHA v2 instead of the built-in reCAPTCHA v3 integration. If so, try to create new keys for reCAPTCHA v2. You may have created keys for reCAPTCHA v3 instead of v2.

    Best regards,
    Yordan.

    I’ve double checked and it’s definitely v2. Maybe i’ll swap to v3 and see if that fixes it.

    Thanks Yordan.

    Hello @horsleyboy,

    Personally I thought a lot before switching to v3 (I liked the “I’m not a robot” box), but I’m glad I took the leap: I haven’t received a single SPAM message in months.

    It may bother you to see the reCAPTCHA badge everywhere, but you can hide it by adding this CSS rule in your Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS, don’t forget to click on Publish button:

    /* Hide reCAPTCHA badge */
    .grecaptcha-badge { visibility: hidden; }

    You can read reCAPTCHA (v3) and FAQ about reCAPTCHA v3 in order to learn more.

    Best regards,
    Yordan.

    So i figured out that i used my gmail email in a few places instead of the email on the domain name. Also swapped over to v3 and its now working!

    Hooray! I’m glad to read that you solved it.

    If you have a couple of minutes, please consider giving a rating to Contact Form 7.

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards,
    Yordan.

    Yeah i like how it’s not in the form. I ldidnt mind the simple check box, but selecting the pictures was annoying. Looks much cleaner without, and i dont mind the recaptcha badge in the very bottom right.
