Update broke website: Needed PHP extesion: bcmath

After a recent update on 11/30/2020 our website displayed error message:

Composer detected issues in your platform: Your Composer dependencies require the following PHP extensions to be installed: bcmath

We operate a state run website where cpanel is under 3rd party control. I hope in the future changes will not break a website or we will replace this plugin. Totally unacceptable and looks like millions of websites were effected.
