When I try to go to my website or log in to the dashboard I get a captcha request stating the site thinks I might be a robot. It then does not accept my answer to the captcha.

This happens on both Goggle Chrome and Microsoft Edge on my computer but not on my phone.

I have tried clearing the cache and making sure cookies are accepted but I still get the captcha screen.

    Please advise.

    Thanks in advance,
    Louise

That’s not something WP core would do by default.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    Thanks for your reply.

I’ve now tried what you suggested but I still cannot access my site or the dashboard on Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

    Please advise.

Try disabling all extensions on Chrome or Microsoft Edge and see if that resolve the issue.

Can you login using other browsers?

    Hi,

I had to go out for a while so left my website. When I got back to my computer, without doing anything else to my site, I found I could access it.

I logged into my dashboard, changed the theme back, activated the plugins, logged back out of the dahboard and checked I could still access my website.

I can still access the website but now my dashboard login url (https://louisesoutertranslations.com/wp-admin/) is showing up as a 404 error on all browers, including my Android phone.

Please advise and thank you again.

I’m having the same problem again – when I try to go to my website or log in to the dashboard I get a captcha request stating the site thinks I might be a robot. It then does not accept my answer to the captcha.

This happens on both Goggle Chrome and Microsoft Edge on both my computer and my flatmate’s but not on my phone.

I have tried everything previously suggested but I still get the captcha screen.

    Please advise.

    Thanks in advance,
    Louise

WP core does not provide capticha by default.

It turns out the problem is being caused by Siteground.

    Thank you for your help.
