    Hello,
I built my site with the “Search Engine Visibility” checkbox checked in WordPress so I wouldn’t be bothered during this one.
Then after building my site I installed the Yoast SEO extension that I programmed on several pages of my site.
I have tuned Yoast SEO so that search engines can find my pages.
Finally, I unchecked the “Search engine visibility” box in WordPress so that search engines can index my page.
All this done, I wanted to have my pages indexed by Google Search Console.
When I add the sitemap to my site I got 2 error messages on 129 of my pages.
The first: Your sitemap appears to correspond to an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format.
The second: Excluded by the “noindex” tag.
I don’t understand where the problems are coming from.
I am attaching one of my pages in error.

Could you tell me where these errors come from?
    Thanks for your help.
    Best regards.
    Yves

    Hello @zyves,

Thanks for reaching out! We have addressed your concerns below:

Your sitemap appears to correspond to an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format
We see the correct XML sitemaps are being generated by our Yoast plugin under the URL, https://www.lipclub.fr/sitemap_index.xml. Therefore, there is no problem with our plugin. We are not sure why Google is reporting sitemap is in HTML format. Usually, this can be a cache issue. Kindly try clearing your cache from your plugin, theme, server, or CDN such as Cloudflare and resubmit the sitemap. If you are not sure how to clear your server caching, please speak with your web hosting provider.

    Excluded by the “noindex” tag
We checked https://www.lipclub.fr/vie-du-club/ and there is no noindex tag:

    <meta name="robots" content="index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1" />

Typically, if some of your pages were noindexed in the past (in your case, the whole site) and you’ve recently fixed them, it can take some time for Google to crawl them again. Whenever you set a post/page to noindex and if Google crawler keeps seeing the noindex tag, Google crawler will stop visiting that post and when that happens, it doesn’t crawl the post again unless you notify them.

If you have your site set up in Google Search Console, you can force Google to re-crawl a page by using URL inspection. You can use this feature to force Google’s index to update. Please follow the steps here: https://yoast.com/help/fetch-as-googlebot/

Please note though that Google Search Console temporarily stopped indexing through URL inspection. You may need to wait until you can use it again. In the meantime, you can resubmit your sitemap_index.xml to Google, as this may force Google to update your sitemap information. You may refer to this kb article: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/submit-sitemap-search-engines/
