For the past three months, I would get random 504 errors whenever I uploaded an image to a post, after about a week if you uploaded an image to the post it would basically stall give an error about losing connection to the server and 504 errors for 4 to 5 minutes. My host Dreamhost would restart the server in order for the site to come back online and function normally.

They would always tell me it seems like there is some process that is overloading the server but that the logs were odd and it looked like Jumbled text that they couldn’t make any sense of.

Finally, three days ago the person helping me said it appears that it’s Vaultpress causing the issue. I went to the jetpack settings I couldn’t figure out how to disable Vaultpress other than removing the username and password from the settings.

Doing this caused a 503 error to pop up randomly.

I then just disabled all of Jetpack and the 504 and 503 error for 2 to 3 days now has been nonexistent. Uploading images to post also seems 100% faster than before, and uploading images almost always caused a 504 error before.

I really am unsure what to do now. Anyone have any recommendations?
