• Hello!

I have a page with a slidepress(slideshowpro) gallery at the top and a same category post listing (about 5) with thumbnails at the bottom of the page.

The issue is, the ssp gallery loads slower since I’ve added the stuff at the bottom.

How do I speed this up? How would I use ajax or something to load the secondary content after the ssp gallery has loaded?

Also, is it possible to add some sort of loader when the content is taking a while to load – even if its flash content? If I can get a general idea or some methods, plugins etc, I’d really appreciate it!

I can attach the page template code if requred.
    Thanks.

  • Hi Harv,
This might sound like a rather obvious question BUT:
Have you tried loading the slideshow with no pictures inside see what happens? The reason why I’m asking is that your pictures might be a little too big or rich so your browser takes extra time loading the pictures.
Same thing goes with your thumbnails in the footer.
If your site loads faster without any slides, then it is definitely an image size/quality problem. In this case, you should definitely change the resolution of your pics to 72 (more than enough for web printing purposes), and maybe also save your thumbnails and images as pngs (they take way less space than jpegs, and they look almost the same). Gif files are even lighter, but not so good quality wise (in my opinion).
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Harv,

You never got back to me on this one. If you were able to figure it out, could you mark the thread as resolved? It helps a lot to filter out which threads were solved and which were not.

    Thanks!
