I’ve set my SEO’s title on my homepage as “Malaysia Biotechnology Products Manufacturer | Top Biotech”.
    Yoast SEO settings
When I open the homepage and check the dev tools, it shows correctly like this:
    Dev Tools Screenshot

However, when I tried searching on Google, it shows the wrong title:
    Google Search Result

Is there any solution to this? I’ve tried changing some other settings but still it won’t show the title the way I want it to even after requesting Google’s crawlbot to recrawl.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @dreammyz4632,

For some reason, the provided screenshots aren’t displaying images.

Checking further, we found Google is showing a different SEO Title than the one you set in Yoast SEP.

The title tag in the page source appears

    <title>Malaysia Biotechnology Products Manufacturer | Top Biotech</title>

whereas the search result is showing a different SEO title i.e. Top Biotech: Malaysia Biotechnology Products Manufacturer

Unfortunately, this is a common issue. Although Google typically uses the title and meta description from the metadata for indexing, this is not always the case. Google will sometimes modify the title or description of the URL as it sees fit. This is not due to the plugin not functioning as expected, but rather is due to Google modifying the description it indexes as its algorithm has concluded that there is a better version to index and we have additional information on this here: Google Shows The Wrong Meta Title For My Site

We recommend using the Fetch As Google feature. This will prompt Google to update its index and implementing your preferences. We also have a guide on using the ‘Fetch as Googlebot’ feature here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/fetch-as-googlebot/.

    Hi @suascat_wp,

I see, thanks for the guide.

1 more thing, when I googled “top biotech sdn bhd”, why is it that only my Location page is showing on the first result, other page such as Home, About Us etc are not even close to the first page? Is there anyway that I can rectify this on my side or I can only wait till Google up my rankings for other pages?

    Hi @dreammyz4632,

We understand that your expected website pages are not ranking for the preferred keyphrase, “top biotech sdn bhd”. We can imagine you didn’t expect this to happen. It’s possible that your posts/pages are being optimized for highly competitive keywords. If your keywords are highly competitive, we recommend reviewing other aspects of the site in order to improve your ranking. You may want to use long-tail keywords. More information here: https://yoast.com/focus-on-long-tail-keywords/

Using Yoast SEO (or Yoast SEO Premium) does not guarantee high rankings and traffic for your site because Google Rankings depend on?a lot of different factors. Issues that determine rankings include server load, page speed, cache configuration, mobile versions, responsiveness, the site’s content, all of which fall outside of the plugin’s scope.

Having said that, in order to get?more organic?traffic and higher rankings in the search results, the main thing is to optimize your content. Please refer to this?definitive guide?and consider the following:

    • Have you submitted your website to the Google search console? If not, please submit your website to the Google search console first by following the steps given in this guide.
    • Have you submitted the sitemap to the Google search console? If not, please submit your sitemap to your Google search console by following the steps given in this guide.
    • Optimize your content against the focus keyphrases by following this guide.
    • Write the perfect SEO title for your posts and pages by following the steps given in this guide.
    • Write clean and meaningful meta description of your pages and posts by following the steps given in this guide.
    • Optimize the content by using the advanced content analysis feature provided by the Yoast SEO plugin by following the steps given in this guide.

If you’re looking for SEO advice tailored to your website, we strongly recommend you to find a local SEO consultancy company via Google. The good ones should rank first.
