How to set up for ONLY admins to add new users, but with custom user fields?

Hi,

I asked this in another forum, but I bet UM can do what I need and I’m just not understanding it, so I’ll ask here too.

I’m very new to WordPress. Only been working with it for a couple of weeks. Here’s what I want to do:

1) I want ONLY admins to have the ability to add new users to my site
2) I want to specify custom data for all users I add. For example, let’s say we all went by nicknames or “handles”? When an admin adds a new user, they need to be able to add those custom data fields to the user account.

I’ve tried “Ultimate Member”, along with a couple of other plugins, but they all seem to assume that you would want new users to register themselves. For example, in UM I can’t add a user as an admin, as far as I can tell. If I bring up the user registration page, it says “Account already created” or something to that effect.

By contrast, I know that WP has a built-in function for admins to add users, but I can’t find any way to customize the data that process collects?.

Finally, I’ll point out that I’m not a “coder”. I can kind of understand HTML/PHP/CSS to a certain extent, but certainly not enough to write my own.
