• Hello,
I have an unusual (or maybe I just lack certain knowledge) login problem. Company that made and setup my website provided me with WP Admin panel, and FTP credentials. I can access mywebsite.com/wp-admin just fine. After updating WP and WordFence I had issues with Wordfence plugin and wanted to ask for help on the WordFence forum. It requires me to log into WordPress account to create new topic.
And here is the problem. I can’t log in using the same credentials I used to access mywebsite.com/wp-admin. To post this message I created an account using my personal email address.

    • Can my website credentials and www.remarpro.com ones be different? I assumed they are the same.
    • If they are different how do I find my WordPress credentials? I suspect they can be different and the company that made my website has access to main account, while I only have access to my website sub account or so. Email I use is also on companys domain. Am I correct here or no? I don’t know how companies that make websites for multiple companies/people organize this stuff.

  • Hello, @biskupator, & welcome.

I’m not certain, but it appears you may be confusing several different things here.

    1) In the email I’m replying to, you’re requesting support from the www.remarpro.com support forums. If you have the free version of Wordfence, then it, too, has a forum on this site where you can ask for assistance, & the credentials are the same as those you used to make this request.

    2) Your hosting provider should’ve emailed you login credentials for your control panel, ie, for creating email, databases, & FTP accounts.

    3) Your WordPress credentials, ie, those you use to log into your website.tld/wp-admin address are ones you chose. Those of us participating in the WordPress community would have no access to them.

You asked: “Can my website credentials and www.remarpro.com ones be different? I assumed they are the same.”

They can, & indeed should, be different.

Because you haven’t posted your domain, it’s very difficult for anyone to really help much, as we can’t look up who you’re hosting with, etc, unless you do so. Unfortunately, as a hosting provider myself, I can tell you that the way things are organized in this biz is not at all standardized, so the way I might do it may be very different from the way another equally competent provider would.

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

    Thanks for the reply @abletec
I will first comment your points so we’re on the same page.

    1) That’s what I tried to do, but, since you mentioned www.remarpro.com and my website admin panel can, and should, have different passwords, apparently I don’t have main WordPress account credentials

    2) WP admin panel and FTP credentials were given to me not by the hosting provider (Hetzner),but by the company that made the website. I recently asked them for access to the site and were given those credentials. Email address for admin panel is in the company domain ([email protected]). What should I ask them for if I wanted to take complete control of the website (change the email address) and get full access to WordPress account associated with the website?

    3) I didn’t know that. That explains my login issue as I probably don’t have main account password.

The website in question is linked above, my host is Hetzner. Unfortunately I already somewhat know that this biz is not at all standardized, when I tried updating PHP on my website. I found the procedure Hetzner wants me to apply, but yet another account credentials are required.
Since you have insider insight could you tell me if konsoleH is just a control panel like cpanel.
And who should I contact to get konsoleH credentials (I’ve never been there)? Should I go to the company that made the website or directly to Hetzner?

    @biskupator, you wrote:

KonsoleH is just a control panel, & that’s likely where you’ll upgrade your PHP.

If you wish to take complete control of your website, then you should change passwords on both your website & your KonsoleH. If your hosting provider has a separate section for account login, then that needs to be changed as well. Make sure your passwords are tank proof, ie, they’re long, they don’t spell words, they contain upper & lowercase letters, as well as numbers & punctuation signs.

To obtain any necessary credentials, you can contact either the company who built the site or Hetzner. If you contact Hetzner, you’ll have to go through a lot to verify that you’re the real owner of the site, so it might be easier to contact the folks who built your website. Then you can change the password(s) & that should deny access to the developer. You’ll also want to change the password on the WordPress database as well. Again, you’ll likely do that through KonsoleH.

It does appear that KonsoleH allows you to create separate FTP users, but I’m not at all certain that they permit separate users of the KonsoleH panel itself.

I use CPanel hosting for my clients, so, unfortunately, KonsoleH is not something I’m familiar with.
