• Exported from one site, performed import on new server.

Import worked with all parts except for Media. Increasing debugging “define(‘IMPORT_DEBUG’,true)” gave a little bit better message but not much:

Failed to import Media “<snip>”: Request failed due to an error: A valid URL was not provided. (http_request_failed)

But, when I look at the XML file and find one of the URLs that is failing, the URL is just fine. I can copy it into a web browser and see the media.

The original server and new server are different IPs, though on the same subnet. Both servers are configured MULTISITE (if that matters). Neither site is using https (if that matters).

    What’s my next troubleshooting step?

Anyone? Seems I shouldn’t have to hack this tool as I believe I’m using it in the most expected way. Is there some obvious first troubleshooting step I’m just not aware of because I’m haven’t explored the guts of wordpress?

Could it be a permissions error? Is there a path I should maybe check the permissions on? Any other troubleshooting ideas?

I would examine your export/import file around the <snip>’d media item in question. What does it list for its url?
