Cannot edit images tag and file with 15.1, no problem with 15.0, cannot rollback

    Hi,
    I cannot anymore edit my images tags (alt tag, title) or even edit the image itself.

    If I disable Yoast everything works well, I’ve two WP installation identical (except for the content) on this server, on the one that is on 15.0 no problem at all, so it’s the latest update.

    I tried to rollback but the site crashes totally.

    You should fix that as soon as you can, it’s very very a bad bug.

    Found a temporary fix:
    remove the flag on “Sicurezza: non c’è alcuna impostazione avanzata o schema per gli autori”, english version should be something like “Security: no advanced settings or schema to the authors“.

    I guess that someone in Yoast team forgot to check for the user role.

    We’re sorry for the trouble caused after updating the Yoast SEO plugin.

    We tried to reproduce the issue with Yoast SEO v15.1 and 2020 default theme but to no avail. Just to clarify, can you please revert and check if there are any JavaScript errors in your browser console while editing the image tags?

    We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with our plugin. We understand that you were no longer able to edit an image, the image title, and the image alt tag at all after updating the Yoast SEO plugin to v15.1.

    However, you have another website where Yoast SEO v15.0 is running and the issue isn’t there and as such, you think it’s an issue specific to v15.1. In addition, you were also unable to rollback to the v15.0 as it crashed your website.

    We also see that you were able to resolve the issue by disabling Yoast SEO → Features (tab) → Security: no advanced or schema settings for authors options. We are sorry about that and we appreciate you for bringing this to our attention.

    By default, the relevant option Security: no advanced or schema settings for authors is enabled and that should never cause the issue that you have described here. In addition, we have also tried to reproduce the issue on our end but were unable to do so.

    Can you please confirm whether you are running an administrator account that you have used to log into your website or it’s an account that has a different role (i.e. author)?

    I’m an administrator and yes, as I said, removing that flag fixed the issue so… ??

    When I found out this problem I’d already checked for errors in console, nothing there, ’cause I thought it was something related to my system and not Yoast or other plugins.

    Only after checking the differences between this and the other installation I presumed that was Yoast and verified it.
