New posts not showing on Google

    Hi all,

    Strange one this. Normally I do a new post/review and then submit the page to Google Search Console as normal.

    Within about 10-20 mins you do a Google search i.e. “McDonald’s Spicy Quarter Pounder review” and it’s there. Top or near the top.

    Wednesday this didn’t happen. I checked my Yoast Sitemap XML and the new post wasn’t there. After some reading, flushed Cache of website and it was there.

    I thought I would leave it overnight. Thursday morning – there it is, sitting nicely on Google. Half way through the day. Gone!

    Same with new post today (doesn’t show). Flushed cache and it is on Sitemap – resubmitted Sitemap yet these two new posts don’t show in index yet tests show they are being indexed.

    Don’t know what has changed since my last post (4 weeks ago maybe?) which still sits nicely on page one along with a lot of my other posts for similar search queries.

    Haven’t had to do the flush cache before either. As I said, normally just publish, do Twitter card validator, Google Search Console for the new post and it’s there.

    Not any more!

    Thanks for reaching out.

    We performed a site search and the post shows up in Google Search results.

    Also, the site, https://burgerlad.com is running the Yoast SEO plugin v13.3 while the latest is v15.0. Can you please update to the latest version?

    Hi, thanks very much for getting back to me. It must be a Google issue as if I “Google” McDonald’s Spicy Quarter Pounder Deluxe Review it is nowhere to be seen (but it was for a while).

    I’m not sure about updating TBH as I’ve found in the past, I update plugins and suddenly I’m faced with all sorts of errors.

    I’ll give it a few days and see and update (so if any issues I can revert back and not lose today’s post).

    About the same time it dropped off Google I estimate. Odd.

    @burgerlad Thanks for your reply. We can’t really comment on the ranking of the page, but if you think there is an issue with how Google is ranking it we’d recommend contacting their support directly.

    As for updating the plugin, please let us know if you experience any issues with updating the plugin to the current version.
