WordPress changes PDF filename during upload

  • I uploaded two PDFs to the WordPress Media Library. What is strange, WordPress appends the filename with a 5 letter code suffix in the filename like this “-fos7lk”. I have never seen this behavior before on any other media file as far as I remember, so my question: Is this normal? If so, why is it doing that? I need a clean filename as I am using it for digital content for sale in a web shop. Any ideas welcome. Thanks!

    This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    OK I will deactivate all plugins and should the situations be resolved try to find out which plugin is responsible. I will post my finding here.
