Visual Editor and reclctrant text
-
Hi John,
After many years of using this plug-in, I still find it the best for Coming Soon and Maintenance modes. I just installed on a new site and had some unexpected experiences. I would appreciate your comments.
I copied the Message text (HTML format) from another site and changed the title (domain name) and saved. To my surprise when I opened the preview the title had reverted to the old domain name. Clearing browser cache had no effect. Going back to the Content page I found that indeed it had changed and also, for the first time ever, I had a Visual Editor as well as the Text Editor. I re-entered the correct title, saved and the preview was correct.
Going back to the other domain it had no Visual Editor. Both sites are on WordPress ver. 5.5.1 but the one showing the Visual Editor does not have the Classic Editor and has the Elementor plugin installed. The other site, built pre-WordPress 5.0, has the Classic Editor. This is my first time to use Elementor, so I temporarily installed it on the old site and deactivated the Classic Editor, but the Visual Editor did not appear. No problem with this on the new site, but curious why it happens.
The other related issue was that having rechecked everything, viewed the Preview and enabled the Maintenace Mode, I went to bed and opened my mobile to check how it displayed and was surprised to find it was displaying the old title again. Although after midnight, I had to see what happened and found the text had again reverted to the old title. This repeated again and I left it disabled, feeling that visitors finding minor potential glitches on a new site was preferable to displaying the wrong title.
As a final comment: I have noticed during my use of Elementor, several weird things happening in WordPress that have never happened before and can add the above to them.
