I keep getting the following SEO Analysis warning in Yoast when creating new WordPress Posts –

“The text contains 0 words. This is far below the recommended minimum of 300 words.” This happens, even when I have over 300 words. Doesn’t appear to be counting properly.

    1. I don’t have any JavaScript errors.

    2. Clearing the cache does not correct anything.

    3. I have logged in using MS Edge, Firefox and Chrome and get the same response for all browsers.

I only get this error on Posts, not Pages.

    Hope you can help.
    Steve

  • Hi @spotter698 ,

We are sorry for the issue you are having and we thank you for creating a new thread in this forum.

Just to confirm, are you using any page builders in creating your posts? Also, as suggested on the other post, have you tried performing a conflict check? The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

I am using Page Builder by SiteOrigin, and have done so for over 12 months. This error is only new.

I will run the Health Check & Troubleshooting plug and advise further.

Apologies, I am using the Classic Editor for the posts which are showing up as errors now. But when I go back to edit previous posts using Page Builder by SiteOrigin, they also show the No Word Count error, even before changing anything.

    Hi,

Just to clarify, so there are two issues. When you create a new post and try to edit it using the Classic Editor plugin (could you let us know which version?) you are getting the ‘the text contains 0 words’ from the content analysis from the Yoast SEO plugin?

When you also try to create a new post and try to edit it using the SiteOrigin page builder and add content, you also get the ‘the text contains 0 words’ assessment from the content analysis?

Could you try recreating this with a default setup? For example, with a default WordPress theme such as TwentyTwenty, and only Yoast SEO and the Classic Editor plugin, are you able to recreate the issue? We recommend that you perform a conflict check — https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/

When I create a new Post using the Classic Editor (Version 1.6) I get “the text contains 0 words”.

When I open an old Post using SiteOrigin Page Builder (Version 2.11.3), the previous positive result with a Green light turns Orange/Red and says “the text contains 0 words”.

I haven’t tried to create a new post with SiteOrigin Page Builder as yet.

OK, I deactivated all Plugins one at a time and found that when SiteOrigin Page Builder (Version 2.11.3) is deactivated, everything works fine.

Do I need to advise SiteOrigin of this issue, or do you?

@spotter698 Yes, we would also recommend reporting the issue to SiteOrigin’s developers directly.

Ok, the issue has now been reported to SiteOrigin and they have developed a beta release to resolve this issue.

Or the problem will be resolved in the next plugin release of Page Builder by SiteOrigin.
