• I changed the wp-config as directed, uploaded all the wordpress files into filezilla after creating a new directory, and the /wp-admin/install.php part is still not working. It says the page I’m looking for is not found. As far as I know, I’ve done everything I’m supposed to do, but apparently I’ve made a mistake somewhere as everything still isn’t working.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • You have either not uploaded all the files or you are looking for the install.php in the wrong place. What is the url for your site?

What was the name of the new directory?

Alright, so I cannot locate my public_html file in Filezilla. I followed a tutorial that stated to create a new directory in the file located in the remote site bar, name it after my URL, and then add a new directory to that entitled blog and place all my WordPress files in there.

Apparently, that was not what I was supposed to do at all. So the first part of my former problem is not so much solved as the problem has become apparent to me.

I need to find the location of my public_html file and then upload my WordPress files to that. However, I cannot find it and so I’m presented with an entire new set of problems.

Any suggestions at this point or should I contact my host in case the problem is something I cannot resolve myself?

Sorry, I didn’t mean to make such a long winded post. I keep following every instruction I’m given only to be met with more obstacles. Thanks.

OK I am 99% sure that the file listed in your remote site bar IS your public_html file/folder.

What you should have done was upload the WP folders and files to that folder. That would have given you https://www.zombiedefensemilitia.com/yoursite. Instead you created a director and put the files in there so you site is actually at https://www.zombiedefensemilitia.com/directory-you-made/yoursite.

You can leave it where it is and run the install by navigation to https://www.zombiedefensemilitia.com/directory-you-made/wp-install.php but it would be tidier to delete that directory you created and re-upload WP into your public_html – then run the install as normal.

Note: I checked your domain and noticed that you also have a default index.html displayed. If you leave the WP install in the current directory you should make sure to delete this default index.html once the install is done.

I’m starting to think that maybe there’s something wrong with my config file? Maybe that’s where I’m going wrong all together. I took your advice, obscure, and still can’t get everything to work properly. Maybe I’m just being a dork.

Going to need something a little more specific/detailed than “still can’t get everything to work properly.” What exactly is the problem and what if any error messages are you getting.
