• Good morning dear WordPress fans,

i use the plugin “PieRegister” because i think it is the best plugin for my needs.

Because I need to map a registration process and subsequently need unique profiles that only the logged in user can see. And also only this profile can see and no other one else. My problem now is that I need a text field that automatically gives suggestions when a letter is entered and this is then also saved in the profile. And this is unfortunately not automatically provided. And of course this is one of the most important thing what I need for my profile page.

As an example I enter the letters B and E and I am suggested Berlin (I’m from Germany).

Do you have an idea how I can solve this problem or is there someone who has already solved this problem?

    Best regards,

    Max

Autocomplete is JavaScript based, so you can in theory apply it to any form field if you custom code its application. WP has the “jquery-ui-autocomplete” module already registered. You need to enqueue it and initialize it to apply to the form field.

The linked example uses a server based source for the possible completion values, which means you’d also need PHP code to get and return possible values based on text entered so far. If the list of possible completions isn’t too large, it’d be easier to include the values as part of the initial declaration. See “Default functionality” on the above linked page.
