    Hi guys
First off, confession – I didn’t design the site and I’m no expert so please be patient! My developer isn’t really around much these days so I’m having to pick this up myself.
Sooo… on this page when I run Google Lighthouse I get no errors on desktop, but 2 reported errors (same error twice) on mobile: GET https://www.3ls.uk/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff?v=4.0.3 net::ERR_ABORTED 404
since it’s all clear on desktop I don’t really know where to start TBH, so let me know what you need.
If it’s useful the site is hosted on Ionos.
    Thanks much!
    Cheers

Hi @superbossof3ls it sounds like the problem you’re having doesn’t pertain to this WordPress plugin. Based on the link you provided (https://www.3ls.uk/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff?v=4.0.3), it looks like your web site is “self-hosting” an old version of Font Awesome. I downloaded and inspected that .woff file and I can see that it’s version 4.7.0 from 2016. Never mind the “v=4.0.3” in the URL–that’s something else.

So that means that really old versions of Font Awesome stylesheets and font files are stored on your own web server and they are being loaded from there. But even that doesn’t seem like the cause of your problem.

A 404 error is something that your web server is producing (your web server might be Apache, for example, which runs WordPress for you.) 404 is the “Not Found” error that is usually how your web server responds when you ask it to load a file or page that it can’t find on the server.

I’m not sure why you’d get a 404 error when loading on Mobile but not Desktop. Why can it find it when loading from a Desktop browser but not Mobile? That doesn’t make sense to me.

One option you might try is to totally sidestep this whole issue and just install this plugin, and then enable Conflict Detection to block that old version of Font Awesome from loading at all. This plugin will load an up-to-date version from the Font Awesome CDN instead. You might also want to enable the “version 4 compatibility” feature, since that’s what you’ve been relying on up to now.

    I hope that helps.
