comments field modifacations

  • For my comments, I do not require a web link (url) but I do need a field called “headline”. Any ideas on changing the coding for the URL field to stop adding the “html://” automatically, and stop removing the spaces?

    I have poked around in wp-includes/comment-template.php and feel the answer is in there someplace, I just need someone with more PHP experience to help me out.

    I have tried unsuccessfully to add an additional field using two different plug-ins (cformsII and extra comment fields) so just looking for a simple solution.

    Any help would be VERY appreciated.

  • Nobody ever seems to respond to these requests for help. I have the same issue and cannot believe that WordPress doesn’t have a tutorial for this. Not to mention some basic fields are missing, city, state, zip code, should be part of the standard comments table.
