    Hello,

I am asked the following: Heads up! You’re ready to migrate to a more secure, reliable Facebook for WooCommerce connection. Please click here to reconnect!

When doing this, it sends me to facebook. There I have to create a new “business manager” which I dont want to do. How can I use my existing profile?

    Best regards,
    Kai

    Hey @kiquafix2012!

It’s a good question! With the latest release of the plugin, we’re using the most up to date API from Facebook to help manage the connection, which includes the latest improvements for product syncing, and enhanced security.

It does mean that a Business Manager account is now a requirement of the plugin too though I’m afraid. If you already have a business manager account, then it shouldn’t be necessary to create a new one, however, if you don’t yet have a business manager account the setup process should help you to create one.

Is this something you already have created previously, or were you not looking to use business manager at all for this process?

    Cheers,

    Simon.

    Hello Simon,

    thank you for the reply.

I am pretty sure we have a business manager account, but just to be sure what is the best way to check this?
We can access the facebook business manager. Here can take a look at our data gathere by the pixel (which is still active). We can also view and edit the catalogue which is transfered from woocommerce.
We also run ads through our business manager.

So as mentioned, I am pretty sure that we already have an account, however during the process for your new update plugin it wants me to create a new one.

    Best regards,
    Kai

    Hey @kiquafix2012!

If you login to Facebook through Business Manager, it should ask you to select the business manager profile for your store. When you click the Get Started button in the plugin settings page, it should then either ask you to login to Facebook (where the same profile should be used) or if already logged in, it should ask to connect the WooCommerce application with an existing business.

During this process, it should then give you the option of selecting existing pages, catalogs, and pixels for the plugin to use with your store.

What do you see after clicking the Get Started button at the moment?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

    Hi there,

since I am already logged in, it asks me if I want to continue with my account. However here it looks like it is using my personal account? But I think this is normal, since you always need a facebook account to have a business manager profile/access.

If I than say continue, it wants to create a new business account.

I added a screenshot to show you this: https://puu.sh/Go6tf/fdcda87cf2.png

    Hey @kiquafix2012!

Thanks so much for the screenshots. That’s right, you should still be able to login with your current profile to access business manager, so long as that profile is part of the existing business you’re using for your ads already.

I think you may need to reach out to Facebook directly, by clicking the Contact Us link at the bottom of that screen, to ask them why you cannot use the existing business and have to create a new one.

Before we do that though, could you confirm for me if that screenshot is the first screen that appears after clicking the Get Started button on the plugin settings? Also, if you navigate to https://business.facebook.com/ with the same Facebook profile, is the business you’d like to use listed here?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

    Hello,

so I got in touch with facebook and they helped to fix the issue regarding using the existing business manager.

What we were not able to solve, is how to use the existing pixel. Is this intended by you, to use a new one?

    Best regards,
    Kai

    Hey @kiquafix2012,

That’s great to hear! Did they mention what needed to be fixed so I can make a note for any other merchants hitting this issue in the future?

You should be able to use an existing pixel so long as it’s managed by your business manager account. The previous Facebook API only allowed selecting personal ad accounts, which probably means that your existing pixel is managed by your personal ad account. Now that the new Facebook API only allows selecting pixels from business manager, Facebook should be able to help you to migrate your previous ad account to your business manager account. This should then show the pixel for selection during the Facebook setup process with their API.

I did a bit of digging and came across: https://assetlab.us/how-to-move-a-facebook-personal-ad-account-into-facebook-business-manager/

Do you think you could give this a go and see if you can move the ad account under business manager to try and select the existing pixel?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

    Hey @kiquafix2012,

It has been a while since we heard from you, so I’m going to mark this topic as resolved. If you’re still experiencing issues please take a look at our documentation for more information and create a new thread if you have further questions.

    Thanks,
    Simon.
