    Hello!

We have a big problem with our online shop, and we cannot find the culprit.

Lately our website behaves very strangely. I will list all the problems:

    – Website clogs very fast, we have to purge all cache manually every day, if we don’t do it, then website is slow, items in cart is not showing properly or not showing at all. Cart’s widget is broken.

    – Sometimes website decides to take some random picture from our products and apply it as a background, with multiplication effect, across all the website/online store. This happens really often, always different picture, always from product pages.

    – Purging cache is sometimes not working, we have to do it multiple times, always very long, couple of minutes, sometimes we get websites error at the end. This passes without doing anything after we refresh the website.

    – Disabling W3 in plugins tab breaks website completely. Layout is broken, not showing all design elements, se we leave it as it is.

Once we tried to set it up according some official W3 team tutorial. Did not change anything.

At the moment we are not sure if this is completely problem of W3, but its a start, and this caching problem points at your plugin.

In link below you will find a print screen how the website looks with changed background:

Thank you in advance for your respoce and help.

    Hello @owsd

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you with this.
As I can see, the options you are using in W3 Total Cache are:
    Page Cache (disk: enhanced)
    Object Cache (Disk)
    Browser Cache
As for the minify you are using Autoptimize.
If you are on shared hosting and using Object Cache with caching method: Disk. It can really slow down your website.
It can be beneficial to use Object Caching if you are on VPS or dedicated server, get a lot of traffic, have a lot of comments. Also, if you know that the database is the bottleneck of your website performance, then Object Cache is beneficial to use. But in this case, it’s recommended to use Memcached or Redis options.
So, for the slow website (or as you described it when it clogs), you should try disabling Object Cache, save all settings, and purged the cache.
There is a possibility that you have a lot of cached objects on your server disk and that’s why purging may take a while sometimes. This is why is advised to use a memory-based caching method for object caching.

Make sure you are not using any other caching solution like other caching plugin or server-side caching. Also since you are using AO to minify assets, make sure that the Minify option in W3 Total Cache is completely disabled.
As for the background images, this should not be related to W3 Total Cache as W3 Total Cache is not dealing with the images in your case or any CSS/js file.
I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions.
    Thanks!

    Thank you for fast response!

In next week i will check out all the possible solutions that you suggested. We are sooooo full with work, we dont even have time to make a security copy before we start to change anything.

Will try to post info if provided solutions helped.

Also, maybe you have an idea on possible culprit for this weird background problem? Would be grateful for any hint or wild guess even.

    Best regards,

    Hello @owsd

I am not sure what may be causing this, possibly some CSS issue, or if you are using an image optimization plugin.
Please let me know the results!
    Thanks!
