I have two WP websites on the same web host, and both are exhibiting the same symptoms with Stop Spammers.
When I try to save any changes on the Block Lists page, I get a Error 403 (forbidden) page.
Can anybody explain why I am now getting this and how to fix it? I am running WP 5.5 and Stop Spammers 2020.4.5. Thanks!

  • @dmine45 I haven’t seen this issue before, so bear with me while we go over some rudimentary troubleshooting.

Can you please clear your WP cache, sign out, clear your browser cache, and then trying signing in again?

(and of course, make sure you’re using an account with full admin privileges)

Tried all of the above, no change.

    1. And this doesn’t happen anywhere else? You otherwise have full access to the admin and saving settings for WP or other plugins has no effect?

    2. Are you using any other spam/security plugins, like Wordfence?

    1. No other problems. And this is on two different WP sites on the same host.

    2. Stop Spammers is the only one I use.

At this point, I’ll need you to open a support ticket with us so that we can dig in further:

    Hi,
I have the same problem since a few months. Worked fine up to then and I am not sure what changed.
This topic is shown as resolved, but I see no answer. Please advice what to do.

Thanks for the great plug in

This is most likely an issue with either security on the server or a security plugin.

In the above user’s case, the issue was concerning ModSecurity. You may want to open a ticket with your host’s support to ask about if ModSecurity is installed, and if so, can its settings be adjusted.
