• Hi! I’m receiving an error when I try to authorize my LinkedIn Auto Publish App. I’ve been trying to set up the LinkedIn Auto Publish for my company, following the tutorial here: https://help.xyzscripts.com/docs/social-media-auto-publish/faq/how-can-i-create-linkedin-application/.

I verified my company application and sent it to LinkedIn for confirmation, which I received within 24 hours. I checked the the client ID and client secret are correct in the plugin, and the redirect URL is correct under settings. When I clicked Save, everything seemed fine, but when I went to Authorize, instead of getting a verification popup like the tutorial said I should, I instead received the following error: unauthorized_scope_error:Scope.

Any advice as to what I’m doing wrong would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

  • The scope error is appear when there is any permission issues.
Please try using the basic profile permission only.
If that works then the app you are using may be not the app approved by LinkedIn.
Please check the Marketing developer platform is allowed under product section of your app as in the screenshot https://help.xyzscripts.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/2-1.png.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you.

I switched to basic profile permission, and got the same error still (unauthorized_scope_error:Scope). This error also popped up when I first tried to save as only profile, but later went away and appeared successful: unauthorized_scope_error:Scope r_liteprofile is not authorized for your application.

My screen did not look exactly like that when I was creating the app. However, when I tab over to the Products tab, Marketing Developer Platform is listed under Added Products.

    Hope this extra information helps!
