In SEO > Social > Facebook – It gives the option to upload an image for use if the post/page being shared does not contain any images. Is it possible to set this image as the primary photo, overriding images on posts/pages and featured images?

My posts/pages have a thumbnail that’s smaller than the required 200×200 size. There are additional images on every post/page, but they aren’t ideal for being featured in facebook posts.

  • Hi @hardel,

It’s possible to override a post’s featured image if you set the Facebook image under the Social tab in the post’s Yoast SEO metabox. The default Facebook image under SEO > Social > Facebook is only used as a fallback if the post doesn’t have a featured image or image in the main content.

The other alternative is to add custom code to set the Yoast SEO og:image using developer hooks. We have more information in our developer documentation: Yoast metadata API.

Thank you, Priscilla! Is the custom code an edit to the PHP? Is there a developer you recommend for this?

@hardel, yes. You can take a look at https://directory.codepoet.com or https://codeable.io. Both websites list good freelance (WordPress) developers.
