My images used to look just fine both on the desktop and on my phone. However, now they are stretched, and it appears they are all formatted into a box. When I edit the post, the images on my page look normal. However, when I hit publish, the images become strangely stretched. Please help!

    Hi,

Have you by any chance started using the Block Editor? I see that is the case.
The block editor enforces a CSS property that resizes the width, but doesn’t do anything about the height.

    Best regards,
    Dumitru

    Hello,

I have not changed anything that I have been using. Since around the new update all of the images have changed. How do I not use the block editor to post images? Do I have to go back and re-post all of my images to avoid this? Is there a shortcut?

    Thank you

You could use the Classic Editor plugin, that would probably work fine.

No, that also did not work. When I clicked “add media” from the “classic block,” the image was then very tiny. I installed the Classic Editor plugin but this is not user friendly for me, and the image was still oddly stretched :(. Any more ideas? I don’t understand why everything was fine, and now all of a sudden the images are stretched. I reduced the image size to 50%, which looks fine on a computer, but is still stretched on the phone.

Other than the fact that you are not using the theme’s features as intended, everything looks fine to me.

I went back in and changed all the images to 50%- which is okay for now when viewing on a desktop computer. However, if you pull up the page on your phone, you will notice that the images are still stretched.
Is there a better way to use the theme’s features? I don’t understand what you are referring to.
Thank you for your time and patience !

Well, the theme expects you to keep your posts organized in a category (or multiple categories), like so:
    https://errxpodcast.com/category/min-grand-rounds/

What you have is a static page that pulls a list of all posts in a block, here:
    https://errxpodcast.com/episodes/
Even though this somewhat works, it’s not the intended use (at this moment).

But I guess the theme will be updated in the future to work well with this too.

Ok, thanks for the input. I’ll keep that in mind.
However that still does not change the fact that the images are stretched ?? If they are at 100%, they are distorted. Only when I set them to 50% do they look ok, and then again only on computer screens. On phone screens, they are still stretched and distorted, even at 50%. Any idea how to fix this? Is there a code for this? It’s strange because on the “edit page” screen, the images are perfect. only after I publish them do they get distorted.

This definitely isn’t good for anybody that goes onto the site!

I’ve said this before already: the theme was not updated for the new Block Editor, as it uses different CSS classes than the Classic Editor.

Ok. so you are telling me there is no way to have the image NOT stretched when uploaded? i still have not received an answer on how to fix this? the classic editor doesn’t fix it. the block editor stretches it. so i should just delete all of the images?

Can you link to a stretched image that was uploaded with the Classic Editor?

    (@errxpodcast)

No, like i mentioned I am new to website design and WordPress and the Classic Editor is not user friendly. I will just have stretched images as I see there is no way to fix it. Major issue with your build. thanks
