High CPU Load

  • My webhost keeps suspending my WordPress blog due to high CPU load. Apparently my site: nupharmic.org – is using as much as 20 to 30% of the CPU on a shared hosting platform under normal circumstances and then, at random times, demands more from the server.

    The site is an Autoblog using the Autoblogged plugin with WordPress version 2.8.6.
    Previously hosted elsewhere since 2006 without any apparent problems like this. Move to this new host a few months back and rebuilt site with latest version of WordPress (at that time) and database backup from previous host.
    Only other plugins active are WP-SuperCache.

    Any ideas or suggestions regarding how this might be resolved would be great.
    Currently considering moving to a VPS but since this site makes zero money I’m not keen on the additional expense.

    Hoping someone can help.

    I’ve had this problem with several other WordPress sites, even when I moved it to a VPS:

    The only way I’ve been able to resolve the problem is to move to an extremely expensive server with tons of memory:

    There has to be a way to run medium to high volume WordPress sites on shared servers, or WordPress cannot be the used for low-income independent sites…which seems crazy.

    I’ve tried using various caching plugins, APC, various hacks, and at the end of the day, throwing money at it was the only thing that worked.
