    Hey there,

I just switched from a different plug-in to instagram feed and it occurred to my, that instagram feed doesn’t pull alt image tags from instagram. As you can see in the footer of my page Fotograf am Niederrhein. Is this working as intended? The other plug-in I used did copy the alt image tag over from instagram.
instagram feed seems to take the caption and put it into the alt tag. It would be really handy if you could implement this, maybe as a checkbox in instagram feeds settings. How about an option to choose what instagram feed uses where? alt image tag from IG to alt image tag from instagram feed or to title tag from instagram feed. Or caption on instagram to either alt tag or title tag from instagram feed.

The reason behind is, that having the caption as alt image tag in instagram feed isn’t always the best choice for seo. The alt image tags on IG are mostly invisible, so one could use a combination of words that wouldn’t look good in the caption.

This probably should be easy to implement, right?
    Thanks guys!

PS: I hope this isn’t an option already and I just overlooked it in the preferences.

    Hey @constantflux,

Thank you for reaching out to us. The last time we checked, the API doesn’t provide the ALT text. However, can you confirm what plugin you were using that provided access to the ALT text?

Many thanks, hope you are having a great day!

Oh my. I’m terribly sorry. I just rechecked the other plug-in and it seems I was mistaken. What I saw was my caption, which was the same as my alt image tags that I set up on IG. I mixed this up and I’m terribly sorry for this.

Does IG allow for access to the first comment in the API?
If so, you could put an option to pull the first comment as ALT text. This would be practical for huge IG accounts, since they get a first comment from a third party very quickly. But for small IG accounts it often is no problem to make a first comment before somebody else makes one. I usually put all the hashtags in the first comment.

Anyway, sorry again for the inconvenience. ):

    Hey @constantflux,

No apologies needed, we are always happy to address any questions or concerns you have. While this is not something that is possible with the plugin currently, I will pass this request along to our developer for consideration in a future version of the plugin.

Let me know if this addresses your?concerns or if you have any additional questions. Hope you are having a great day!
