No upgrade tab

Hi , I am very new to wordpress so please bear that in mind.
I would like to use videopress .
I have 2.9 installed on godaddy. Installation was a doddle.
I have no upgrade tab in the dashboard with which to access the videopress upgrade.
– am I being stupid ?.
