Child Theme not working in a subdomain

OK, So I created a website and a child theme so I could edit the theme without changing the parent. So far so good. Then I decided I want to turn my website into two separate websites, both using the same theme but with different colors and content (same subject matter).

Anyway, I created my sub-domain, and created the child theme exactly as I did for the primary site. Saved it under the sub-domain, themes directory. But when I went to activate it, it is NOT importing the parent theme (mqb) even though I put the proper rule:

@import url(‘../mqb/style.css’);

Any ideas as to what the problem could be?
