    Hi – we have a site under construction which we are using Page Builder by SiteOrigin and SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle. We are using SiteOrigin Layout as a block in the WP editor.
    Lately whenever we go to edit a page we get “This block contains unexpected or invalid content”.
    I have tried:
    – clearing the cache
    – switching to TwentyTwenty theme
    – deactivating all other plugins except these two

    If we “attempt block recovery” it works – but only until we click save again. Every time we want to edit a page we have to recover the block. This is OK for me, but very frustrating and daunting for other people trying to edit content.

    Are you able to assist?

    Hi, thanks for reaching out.

    This issue was meant to have been resolved in Page Builder 2.11.1. The problem arises when a link that opens in a new tab is inserted. Can you perhaps download the layout from the Layout Block and send it to us via Dropbox or WeTransfer? You can download the JSON layout from Layouts > Import/Export > Download Layout. Please, post a link to the layout here, we’ll then download it and take a look.

    Thanks for the quick reply – I have put a few in here for you, as well as a couple that are loading fine (maybe you can pick up a difference as to why).

    Thanks for the layouts. We haven’t been able to replicate the issue yet. Alex here at SiteOrigin also tried. When you have a moment, please, could you try a quick plugin conflict test? Does the issue persist if you temporarily deactivate all plugins not authored by SiteOrigin? Please, let us know how that goes and we’ll take it from there. Thanks again.

    Yes – I have deactivated all plugins except for Page Builder by SiteOrigin and SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle, and also with Twenty Twenty theme.

    Does the issue persist if you create a new test page and import one of the “problem” layouts?

    I have just tested this now – and yes, the issues have carried across with the layout to the new page.

    Is there a particular change or action being taken besides importing the layout and saving the page?

    Not that I am aware of…
    1. add new page
    2. add SiteOrigin Layout Block
    3. Layouts
    4. Import/Export
    5. Select Import File
    6. Insert > Replace current
    7. Publish
    8. View Page
    9. Edit Page
    10. … then I get the “This block contains unexpected or invalid content” and have to go to “Attempt Block Recovery”
    11. Then I can edit as normal until I save again

    Are any of the widgets marked as missing (“Missing Widget”) on the problem pages?

    No – they are all working fine.

    Ascend theme (by Kadence) does give some extra widgets – but I have tried removing all of these from the problem pages and the issue remains.

    If a widget is missing the Layout Block will produce an error so it was worth checking this point.

    I’ll install the supporting Kadence theme/plugins tomorrow so I can fully recreate the test page, at the moment those widgets are missing for me which is why the error was triggered which is expected. I’ll update you again tomorrow, thanks again ??
