    Hi Guys,

I’m running Jetpack in Development Mode on several live sites. Upon updating to Jetpack 8.7.1 from 8.6.1, every site now displays the following “critical issue” on the Status tab of the WordPress Site Health panel:

    —–

    1 critical issue

    Jetpack

    Blog Token If Exists

    Blog token is missing.

Disconnect your site from WordPress.com, and connect it again.

    —–

This may be related to Dev Mode (none of the sites are connected to WordPress), but the error wasn’t displayed prior to the update, so I thought I’d inquire.

Also, if it matters, comments are disabled on all sites affected.

    Thanks.

    Host: WP Engine
    PHP: 7.4.6
    WordPress: 5.4.2
    Jetpack:: 8.7.1
    Theme: Genesis 3.3.2

    Hi there,

What method are you using to enable dev mode? Editing wpconfig.php, or via a plugin?

I assume you’ve made sure that dev mode is still enabled, right? I’m just wondering if the update might have overwritten something causing dev mode to become disabled somehow.

Also check if completely deleting the Jetpack folder via FTP and then re-installing the plugin makes any difference.

    Good Morning,

    1. Dev Mode is enabled on all sites with wp-config.php file.
    2. Yes, Dev Mode is still enabled.
    3. Deleting Jetpack via FTP and re-installing has no effect.
    4. Tried deactivating other plugins — No luck.

    * I should reiterate that this issue occurs on every updated site that I’ve checked so far (5).

    * Also, I installed Jetpack 8.7.1 on a new clean install of WordPress with Twenty Twenty theme. With Dev Mode enabled but no modules activated (and no other plugins installed), I get the identical error.

    Thanks for your help.

Hm, yes that does appear to be related to Developer Mode.

If you do intend to use Developer Mode, it’s safe to ignore those warnings, as the test only looks to confirm a live and connected site.

Hi – for some reason there was no option anywhere on WP support to create a new topic so had to jump on this thread…

Looking for the best way to add follow button/option to my blog (to receive new notification of new content, posts, etc) don’t need to send out email campaigns necessarily, but don’t mind having a pop up appear on page where people can subscribe and follow this way. Do have a Mailchimp account, but unsure how to connect it for this purpose…What’s the best/easiest way to do this?

    Thanks!

    James,

It may be safe to ignore, but it’s a little disturbing for non-technical clients that won’t understand the message or context:

Perhaps these error messages could be qualified with a note regarding Development Mode?

    Thanks.

this isn’t resolved. we’ve got the same problem and it’s freaking out our clients.

The test attempts to see if Jetpack can communicate with your site, but since your site is only available via localhost, or blocked intentionally via Development Mode, it cannot and you will see the error message.

If this is intentional, it is absolutely safe to ignore, and I recommend informing any clients who are concerned.
You’re more than welcome to direct them to this thread.
