Moving to https and changing Yoast Database Tables

    Hi there!

    We’ve moved the site to https and I have a plugin called Better Search and Replace that I generally use to change the database tables to find instances of the old http in posts and images.

    I see that there are yoast tables that I can search and replace the http url with the new https url (the url is the same except the https) and I was wondering if it would be ok to change them this way. I wasn’t sure if Yoast had a feature (i didn’t see anything that stood out to me) that would be a better alternative to this.

    I don’t believe we have done a lot with Yoast just yet, we used it to mainly fix an issue with pages showing on Facebook. So we haven’t really jumped into it, but doing a dry run with Better Search and Replace showed that some of the tables had several instances of the old http URL.

    Also, I know this is involving another plugin, but really I’m asking about the best way to change your plugin’s tables to use the https url. I wanted to get your opinions before moving forward, and hope you can offer a bit of insight into this.

    That is fine. You can either do a search and replace in the database (using your preferred plugin) or install the Yoast Test Helper plugin to help you reset the indexable tables in your database. Once installed and activated, go to Tools > Yoast Test and click on “Reset indexables”. Then click the “Start processing and speed up your site now” button.

    For the health and safety of your site, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database. This is especially important before installing, updating, removing plugins, or making changes to your database.

    Thank you so much for input! I’m working with our IT to make sure we are getting the regular backups of the databases. I believe we are, but I will be making sure before proceeding.
