• There really should be an option to automatically approve comments from certain IP addresses or at least by members that have registered.
One could list the IPs or users they wish to ALWAYS allow to comment without approval (trusted list). It seems senseless to have to approve comments numerous times from my trusted friends and even comments I make BACK to them have to be approved.

  • Say thanks to the spammers. A whitelist of some kind would be a good thing.

    I agree.
I would like to be able to add a positive weighting to known good IP’s or otherwise whitelist.

ExpressionEngine has a nice blacklist/whitelist setup that does exactly what you mentioned, Kyte; and it works very well. It would be real nice if something like this was built into 1.5.

    But EE isn’t free ??

(It also doesn’t produce valid code does it ?)

No, it isnt free, and the code is far from valid (out of the box). ??

I was merely mentioning the system because their whitelist/blacklist works perfectly. I’m using EE on a few other sites, and (as with everything) as long as you keep the blacklist updated, nothing gets through.

I was only thinking that something similar might be worth looking into. ??
