Thumbnail images set to default dimensions 400×300, display too small
Thumbnail arrangement in “mosaic-like” arrangement with large gaps

changing thumbnail options do not change anything, either dimensions (400×300, 300×300) or Set Fixed Dimensions

Override thumbnail settings, thumbnail crop=Y, no change

It appears that the thumbnails must all be the same dimension for the gallery to appear correctly, ie all horizontal, all vertical, all square, no mixing. The only other option to mix sizes in such an arrangement is to upgrade

Also, how do I change the gallery image arrangement from thumbnail to slideshow or some other?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @blueplanetphoto,

That’s correct that the Basic display types available in NextGen Gallery aren’t ideal for mixed sized and orientation thumbnail images.

“NextGen Gallery -> Other Options -> Thumbnails Options -> Default thumbnail dimensions” will not affect the already existing galleries and their thumbnails. This setting applies exclusively for the new image uploads. To resize the already existing galleries’ thumbnails, you will have to access “NextGen Gallery -> Manage Galleries” check a gallery and choose “Create new thumbnails” from “Bulk Options” then press “Apply” and it will ask you to specify the size of the thumbnails.

With NextGen Gallery (free) you can select Basic Slideshow while inserting a NextGen Gallery module into a page/post: https://www.imagely.com/docs/adding-galleries/
