Not Truly Ready for Elementor
-
Frustratingly, we went through a lot of work switching from Helpie FAQ/Wiki to BetterDocs when we learned of BetterDocs froM WPDeveloper, as usually everything they put out is top notch.
Crazily, they have completely left out the ability to customize the overall MAIN BetterDocs page with Elementor. Yes, they have basic widgets for results pages, but you can’t place or style the main BetterDocs landing page with an Elementor widget, making it almost impossible to style the main landing page with Elementor. That makes it worthless.
Multiple tickets with their support trying to describe the issue and support finally replied that we were correct, the main landing page cannot be placed using an Elementor widget.
Here was their response:
Regardless, about your query on Docs editing in Elementor, well, you can only edit the content part with Elementor. So, in that portion, you can add any Elementor widgets you want. That’s how BetterDocs works with Elementor.
But if you are looking to customize any other portion like social share button, breadcrumbs, category list, or anything else, it’s not possible to edit ’em with Elementor since we have our own layouts and offering own customization options for them. I hope you understand.

So, you are basically limited to stying the main parts of BetterDocs using their customizations in their own customizations tabs in the plugin (which is a primitive way of doing it).
Even that would be fine if WPDeveloper would simply make a widget in Elementor that could be used to place the main BetterDocs landing page on an Elementor page (like they do with the few interior element BetterDocs items). Then at least we could customize the page where BetterDocs appears.
Currently BetterDocs is a post type, but you can’t use Elementor to style (the body, header, etc) template/page AROUND that post type, making BetterDocs worthless inside ELementor.
Please fix this WPDeveloper. If you want to see how to do it, look at Helpie FAQ, as unfortunately we’ve had to go back to that plugin, even though BetterDocs could be better if they would address this issue with Elementor.
