    Hello,

as I’m pushing products to my website with the product name already specified I would like to know if it’s possible to set a rule so the images, when uploaded automatically gets the name of the product followed by a sequential number.

    Thank you

Thanks for your question. I hope I understand it correctly.

First, I assume you are using the WooCommerce plugin for your website; is that right?

You wrote “pushing products to my website“. Does that mean you are using the Products/Add New admin screen?

You wrote “product name already specified“. Does that mean you have already entered a value in the Product Title field?

You wrote “images, when uploaded“. Does that mean you are using the “Set product image” and “Add product gallery images” functions on the “Add Product” screen?

Assuming I’ve understood the above, I regret the short answer is no. If you use the “Upload” option for the “Set product image” and “Add product gallery images” functions, WooCommerce first uploads the image(s) to the Media Library and then, in a second step, associates them with the product. Thus the product name is not available during the upload process.

If you are using WooCommerce, the best alternative I can suggest is to use MLA’s Media/Assistant Bulk Edit area to update the Title values. Basically, you would select the items associated with the product(s) and apply a template to update their Title values. I can give you more specific instructions if that is an approach that would be helpful.

I will leave this topic unresolved until I hear back from you. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.

    Hello,
first let me thank you for your amazing response.
As my website is an on demand store I have a third part company where I create the product and then add to my store. That’s why I push them.
I found a solution that is attaching the images just pushed to the product.
What I want is to have images with all metadata pointing to the store and not to the original source.
For SEO and for “privacy” matters.
Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Thanks for the positive feedback and for your additional comments. It looks like you have found a solution for your application.

You wrote “What I want is to have images with all metadata pointing to the store and not to the original source. For SEO and for “privacy” matters.

If you mean the IPTC/EXIF/XMP metadata embedded in the image files you will have to use some other tool such as Adobe Lightroom to make those changes. MLA does not have any features that modify the image file content. If you do use Adobe Lightroom you might consider the excellent WP/LR Sync plugin to move data into WordPress.

If by metadata you mean the WordPress standard and custom fields for Media Library items then your approach of attaching the items to their associated products is a good one. MLA core provides some access to parent properties. The “MLA Substitution Parameter Hooks Example” plugin adds several additional data sources, and the “WooCommerce Fixit” adds product data sources if that’s relevant to your setup.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have problems or further questions regarding data sources for your application.
