• Please help if possible. My site was up and running fine last night at 2 AM cst when I logged off. I woke up this morning and my site just goes to the new WP install page. I can’t log in with wp access, all pages just redirect to new install. It was nothing I did, haven’t done any upgrades or anything and wasn’t even working on the site last night.

I went to cpanel and checked database. Seems the wp-options is missing or corrupted. I run a weekly backup of the blog. I don’t really know how to do any of this back end stuff and don’t want to screw it up more. My latest backup is from Friday.

If anyone can offer some support I could really use it right now.

    Thanks so much

    oh my site is https://DamonDay.com

  • How does your file structure look? are all your files intact?

If, in fact, your database is hosed, you’ll have to restore that from your backup

once you have files in place and DB restored, hopefully you back in business

If not, you may need further action.

Once up and running, you need to upgrade. WP 2.7.1 is quite vulnerable and leaves you open to attack

I am not sure about the file structure. Ran a DB repair and everything looks ok except the wp options says missing or corrupted. Ya, I figured I better upgrade while I am dealing with this. I didn’t upgrade before because I was afraid to screw something up. So now that someone else screwed it up for me, I can go ahead and do it.

for the time being, I set up a free wordpress blog and forwarded my domain to let visitors know about the problem. We are going to upgrade to the newest version of wp and hope that fixes it

If you have an sql backup from your complete set of tables, you can open it in Wordpad (when it is not toooo big) and then find the section with wp_options.

Copy that in full and paste it in your sql box (does cpanel has that?) and press start. It will put back the content of your wp_options table (from a week old).
The piece would be between 100 and 200 lines normally.
