• The latest update (5.2) makes some very large potentially breaking changes to the plugin. Notably, the removal of jQuery, the deprecation of the wpcf7_ajax_json_echo and wpcf7_ajax_onload hooks, and the re-classification of some of the CSS.

Is there something that we can subscribe to in order to be notified of these upcoming changes before they go live, or any kind of dev/beta updates we can install ahead of time? This is going to require us to rework a lot of our code and perform extensive testing. I wish I would have known that this was coming weeks ago instead of finding out about it the day of release with no warning.

Because CF7 is such a highly customizable plugin, I’m assuming that this is going to affect a large number of its users. Some kind of forewarning would be incredibly appreciated.

I don’t think releasing beta will work because no one cares it. You could have checked the release announcement and tested with the theme and other plugins you use before upgrading the plugin on a production environment.

Well I certainly care. ?? CF7 has over 5 million downloads, I can’t be the only one who would appreciate something like that.

I did check the release notes before making any changes to our production environment though, thankfully. In your announcement you recommend upgrading immediately, but now I’ll have to delay updating until I’ve had time to test in our dev environment, which could take weeks, so it’s a bit of a predicament.

If not a beta release, then maybe just a blog post or something a week or so ahead of release? Just anything to give a heads up before major releases would be really helpful and save folks a lot of headaches.

    Thanks for your response.
