Is it possible to add weights to the included USPS packages? Some of the packaging doesn’t weigh anything at all and none includes packaging materials. Thanks in advance!

    Hi there,

Which plugin are you using to offer USPS rates?

I’m using the built in USPS feature with Woocommerce shipping.

    Hi there,

Thank you for confirming that you’re using USPS feature of WooCommerce Shipping/WooCommerce Services.

In WooCommerce >> Settings >> Shipping >> USPS (WooCommerce Services), there is a link to a packaging manager:

    https://d.pr/i/JSwDCD

You can add custom boxes with their own weight there:

    https://d.pr/i/BFNmdJ

With these settings, the system will attempt to pack your products into these custom boxes first and then it will attempt to fit the custom box with the total weight into a USPS package:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-services/#section-5

That complicates the shipping setup quite a bit so simply making your products heavier and slightly larger in the product settings is also a viable workaround.

    I hope this helps!

I am already using custom boxes. The issue is the USPS boxes included do not have the proper weights. It makes the weights not close to what is correct.

    Hi @rawkus2g,

    Sorry for the delay here.

I am already using custom boxes. The issue is the USPS boxes included do not have the proper weights. It makes the weights not close to what is correct.

Live shipping rates were discontinued for new stores some time ago and our developers are no longer working on improvements so the ability to add weights to default USPS packages will not be added, but as a workaround, you can add extra weight to your custom boxes or products themselves to have the total weight that matches the actual weight better.

Let us know if there’s a particular example you’d like us to look into though.

Thanks for the additional information. Sad that no one is working on improvements because it’s a great feature. I don’t need any assistance as I am using workarounds with custom boxes.

    Hi there,

Thank you for confirming that you’ve found a workaround!

I’ll be marking this thread as resolved but feel free to open a new thread and link to this one if you have further questions.

    Have a wonderful day ahead!
