No effect on Google PageSpeed
-
Hi All,
I recently became aware of my website being very slow to load, and Google’s PageSpeed analysis tells me it’s because the images are in old formats and not efficiently encoded, etc. I installed Smush, which did its thing on 800+ images across the site, and I was hoping for the PageSpeed score to improve markedly as a result. In fact, it became slightly worse (not by much, but certainly no improvement on that front). Any idea what might be the problem here, and what I should do?
The PageSPeed ‘opportunities’ list has the following two items on the top, together accounting for the vast majority of potential improvements:
1. Serve images in next-gen formats
2. Efficiently encode imagesIs Smush not meant to deal with these issues?
TIA,
