Error page trashed

Sorry double post and I don’t find how to erase it…

I’m having the same issue. My 404 page gets trashed frequently for my live websites but not my staging. I have to undelete my 404 page roughly once a week and I do not know why either. I have several websites and it happens to both.

@andycty611 Hello, did you get Flamingo plugin active ?
If yes try to disable to see what’s going on.
Not uninstall it but verify the cron of Flamingo is not running (with Cron Manager for example). IF it still there delete the cron.
Don’t uninstall Flamingo or backup the email database before.
After that, tell me if the custom error page will still trashed.
@takayukister the developer of Flamingo tell me it is no relation but it is for the moment my observation, I don’t get the reason or why.

@garfiedo thanks for your investigation. Did this solve the problem for you. I have not yet analyzed the Flamingo code in detail, but a quick look at the code has so far not shown that the Flamingo plugin could cause this problem. Also in the Pen theme I did not find any evidence of it.

For the moment I didn’t found any solution.
the only one I found is :
– On the public site I disable the Flamingo plug in and erase his cron job
– On the staging site, I keep it and every day the custom error page was trashed…

We can do all test we want in this staging site, that’s a clone test website.

I had a look to to the Flamingo cron, I’m really not expert in php code but I didn’t notice anything wrong, so I’m very surprise…

Thank you for your attention to this mystery.
Also I can’t found the relation with the Flamingo plugin cron and the error404 plugin, but yesterday, I activate again the Flamingo plugin on the public version of the site and this morning, the custom error 404 page was trashed !
If you desire I can give you an admin access at the staging version.
Basic information :

08:18 Custom 404 page trashed

On the staging version, since the 02nd of July, the custom error page stop to be trashed but this version didn’t receive any form email so any spam to be resolved in the flamingo database…

I think the difference with the planned time of the cron and the effect is the queue on the server as I’m on share server.

I get the idea yesterday, the 13th of July to change the error 4×4 page, and the URL, so I took the english version of the page as default page.
The result was the was was trashed on the same time the Flamingo cron run…
I still din’t found the solution…

News and update about the bug.
I discover an information with the staging site :
I keep the contact form on this site.
I indicate “nofollow” to the search engine
But of course some robot overtake this indication.
So, some days I receive spam.
The spam was trashed automatically on the way by System (indication of the log activity).
The morning after this action, just after or during the Flamingo Cron Jobs, the custom error page was also trashed by System…
When no spam arrive and was trashed, this effect no exist.
Thank you for your help if somebody get an idea…

@garfiedo, thanks for your investigation. I’ve analyzed the Flamingo code, that deletes spam messages and as far as I can see, only objects with post type “flamingo_inbound” are handled by the plugin. This means, that an object with post type “page” can not be deleted by Flamingo. But I’ll investigate the problem further…

It is exactly what I think when I realize on the sandbox site, the error page ent to trash only the day after (or after) spam arrive and was tried to be send by the form.
It is as the error custom page was considered as a spam message and not a simple post…
I don’t understand why… Database trouble / corruption ?
If you desire I can open an admin access for you to the sandbox site.
You can test what you what there ! ??

Yesterday I get the idea to put the Flamingo Daily Cron in PAUSE.
Today, the First Flamingo Daily Cron was in PAUSE
BUT
A new cron “Flamingo Daily Cron” was created and … the Custom Error Page was Trashed.
So today, I decide to ERASE all “Flamingo Daily Cron”…
I don’t know why but I think a new cron will be created tomorrow morning and…
Wait and see…
PS I use in free mode :
– Cron Manager
– Log Viewer and WP Activity Log

– To put manually every day the Custom error page out from the trash
