Auto generate thumbnail from front end video upload?

  • Hi there,

    I am about to purchase a video theme where registered users can upload videos from the front-end of the site. However, there is an option for them to upload a thumbnail (which I hate as it’s time consuming for the user and could potentially put them off uploading).

    So I have went with a web host that has FFMPEG pre-installed. However, I wanted to know whether this plugin would auto generate a thumbnail from the video uploaded by the user from the front-end, without me having to do it from the back-end?

    To be clear, these would not be from embedded videos from YouTube, but videos they have uploaded directly to my website server.

    My plugin can be set to generate thumbnails automatically whenever a video is added to the Media Library. However, front-end uploaders have been known to cause problems with automatic thumbnail generation because they don’t necessarily create the database entry in the order my plugin expects. Usually it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I don’t have access to premium themes to test them out so I can’t promise that it will work.
