I have given up with this theme
-
I was only using this theme to update an existing site developed by someone before me who never created a child theme so it can never be updated, especially with the very significant customisation done to it that I’m not fully aware of.
So time came to totally redo this site, and I had never used this theme before. Ugly (significant) breaking changes happened frequently with releases the few months I tried using it. This was despite using a properly-developed child theme. Incredibly frustrating, and the support time to fix identified and known problems took in one instance seven weeks and multiple versions to fix. Sure this is a free version of the theme, but it shows there’s no care involved and instils absolutely no confidence that I should be paying if that’s what the response is like.
Now with version 4 of this theme, it is ignoring child themes entirely. Therefore, my own customised changes are now just ignored. I could only get my child theme stylesheet to load after manually enqueueing the file via functions.php. There is no mention of any of this in any promised documentation. In fact, the documentation is at best described as vague and not really helpful.
So after finally getting the child theme to load, only some of it works for the parent theme LOADS SO MUCH INLINE CSS THAT A CHILD THEME CAN’T FUNCTION AT ALL UNLESS EVERY CSS LINE INCLUDES AN !important AT THE END OF IT.
This is the final straw. The most helpful advice in the limited documentation was to roll-back to version 3 and continue using that … and build a new site with something else. For a frustrating theme that breaks with regular updates, to then being near-completely useless, that’s exactly what I’m now doing and I’ll never be touching this disaster ever again.
