hebrew widget title name becomes gibberish only in one widget box

  • weird title i know.
    first: i use the LATEST wordpress – the hebrew version.
    second: all hebrew widget titles work fine but this “now reading” widget plugin messes them up.

    * english title works fine

    this is how it looks in the database WP_OPTIONS:

    GOOS WIDGET: lastfm-records a:11:{s:5:”title”;s:12:”??????”;s:8:”username”;s:5…

    BAD ONE: nowReadingWidget a:1:{s:5:”title”;s:63:”ת×

    its transform each character to this &times chars?!?!?! why?

    i think it converts badly before it reaches the DB because everything else works great

    please help

    also. forgot to mention

    wp_options encoding is utf8_general_ci which i think should be fine
