I created a whole bunch of variable products, but the products always shows “Out of Stock” until I enabled the variation.

However, this is where the problem occurs. When my variations are enabled, they show up as individual products in a search, whereas only the variable product is supposed to show up.

Changing the Status of the variation to Private does not help. There doesn’t seem to be a way to set Shop and Catalog visibility.

    Hi @totelite

I’m not completely sure that I follow what the exact issue here is, but let me see what I can do to help better understand…

To set what can be viewed on the Shop and Category pages, you can go to wp-admin and select Appearance> Customize> WooCommerce> Product Catalogue

When you created the Variable product, did you follow the instructions here:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/variable-product/

Using a default theme, Storefront, on my test site, when I search for hoodie as an example, the Variable products show in the search, but not each variation. I need to select the single product page to view the options.

If this is not happening as expected on your site and all setting and products were correctly created, it sounds like there could be a conflict with the theme or another plugin.
    ?
The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

    Hi Amanda,

Thanks for that. I discovered that upon publishing the variable product, all the variations appear as product items.

I would do some testing to see if there are any conflicts between the theme and the plugins and revert here later. Thanks for the link!

    Hi Thanks for the help!

It seems like there was a problem with a plugin I installed. Have since followed up with the plugin developers on that and come up with a solution.

    Thanks again!
