Working in “admin” mode moves active browser window behind inactive window

Using an Intel based iMac here.

When I am working in “admin” mode and enter a change, such as a new post, the active window gets kicked behind the next open inactive window. This is annoying at the least and is also accompanied by inconsistencies in the editing capability for posts.

I’ve tried this with different themes and have auto-reinstalled WordPress with no change to this phenomena.

Any ideas will be appreciated.
